Candide - probably considered along with "Gypsy" by most among the very best Goldilocks - not as well-known, since the show flopped, but the OCR never was out of print (certainly it was available for many years after its run) because of its great Leroy Anderson (composer/arranger of "Sleigh Ride" and other classic light/ novelty) music Tenderloin Little Me A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum It's A Bird, It's A Plane, It's Superman - incredible orchestrations and such fun! Funny Girl -- Barbra Streisand got her audience revved up when she opened some of her later appearances with this wonderful piece Oklahoma! Bells Are Ringing - Jule Styne had some really terrific overtures -- also Subways Are For Sleeping, in addition to Funny Girl and Gypsy Those are just some off the top of my head. Enjoy the "Goldilocks" overture. |
