Thank you for mentioning 110 in the Shade, definitely a favorite of mine but I forgot about it below.
Oddly, the overture was recorded and released in 1963 on a Living Strings album titled New From Broadwaay, conducted by William Hill-Bowen, but I think it was included only on the open-reel tape release. It even included "Everything Beautiful Happens at Night," confusingly not included in the overture on the OBCR. I'm guessing it was cut from the overture by opening night, but included in the published and licensed materials, but I don't know.
I don't know Jamaica well. I was surprised to find when looking it up on castalbums.org that the overture was included on the original stereo issue, but tracks included on the mono issue were left off. |
