A given play can only be submit for the Pulitzer one time ever -- even if the piece has been substantially altered from one production to another. They get one shot!
The only caveat being that the a playwright isn't required to submit it after the 1st production; they can submit it in a later year, as long as *a* production of the play opened in the US in that respective calendar year. So the only way it could be eligible this year is if BJJ, for whatever reason, chose to hold off on submitting the play until now. Which would be extremely strange for a variety of reasons.
Lucky for him, I think he stands a good chance to win this year anyway, for The Comeuppance.
