Yes, that's a better way of putting it. A play like Rabbit Hole is too "safe" to win nowadays. And anything remotely like the "well-made play" has no chance.
And you're also right that many of the recent winners have not been produced that widely. In Philadelphia, skipping over English or Hamilton, whose rights may not have been released, I think only 3 of the last ten winners have had local productions. |
