The author of the Playbill article writes, "The novel was adapted by Puig himself as a 1983 stage play, and as an Academy Award-winning film in 1985 starring Broadway favorite Raúl Juliá."
No mention of William Hurt, who won an Oscar for the film and had at least 12 Off-Broadway credits before the film was made, plus an additional one (which also was his only Broadway credit) between the making of the film and its release. Did the author not even think to go to iobdb? To regular New York theatregoers in the late 1970s and early 1980s, Hurt was a Circle Rep regular, a mainstay of the company. |
