He was in vogue in the 1970’s having written The Party, a 1974 political play which was Laurence Olivier’s last London stage performance; he virtuosically delivered a 20-minute monologue extolling Marxism. Comedians was Griffiths' big success, featuring Jonathon Pryce in a Tony-winning role. He also co-wrote the Oscar-nominated screenplay for Reds in 1981. |
