I don’t know the answer to this question (and I question the framing of “doing so badly” when it’s previews and the show is at full capacity), but I know there were lots of cheaper tickets available to previews if you purchased before they started. So that could explain it. I think the show transferred very well - I was concerned the intimacy would be lost and it hasn’t been. I still would advise sitting close, although the deck is now raised, so the first 3-4 rows are no longer ideal (they were perfect at Playwrights). Appropriate is a solid play, and this is a good production, but it’s very August: Osage County in spirit/tone. Meaning, it feels a little like something we’re seen before on Broadway. Whereas Stereophonic is newer. Even were both competing in Best Play, I think Stereophonic would (or at least should) be the clear winner. |
