I am a minority voice: I didn't much care for it, and the juxtaposition of the Wilder and the Chekhov didn't feel "earned" to me. I loved Bel Canto, but have not been as taken by her recent books. She's a friend of a friend, so I am glad people are responding positively to it, but I was disappointed--and Our Town may be my favorite play and Chekhov my favorite (along with Ibsen) of the modern playwrights. Maybe that's why--I may have expected too much. |
