I haven't seen the heavily revised Broadway version of Suffs yet, but I absolutely agree that the comparison to Hamilton is more apt than a comparison to 1776. The density of historical information and the efforts of a distinctive single creator are comparable, and rare. 1776 isn't a sweeping epic, it's the story of one moment in history. Suffs shares the all-female cast concept with the recent 1776 revival, but I find that similarity to be pretty superficial. |
