I also saw both Edelman and Rupert, but my thinking was that the show was not kept in good shape when the 2nd cast took over. It's a complicated show to run, with lots of sets and characters, and I got the impression that it wasn't up to the level of the original cast in its tightness and jokes didn't land as they had. I like the show, too, on the whole, though the "Funny" song spot maybe calls for something perhaps more self-deprecating and/or at least um, well, maybe haha funny, and the ending was a distinct letdown/cop-out even with the original cast. |
