It’s a very smart bio-show. I agree with you.

In some ways, it’s even better than Jersey Boys. Atop the skeletal structure, wherein an older Diamond goes through song titles trom his oeuvre with his psychiatrist, the show delves into his psychology while introducing his thoroughly entertaining songs. There are sing-alongs. It is a great date show; it breaks the fourth wall and becomes a concert sometimes. I saw it without Will Swensen, but the lead was fine, and Robyn Herder was excellent, and so was everybody. I sat behind a couple who had come to the show to celebrate their wedding anniversary. It’s that kind of show. A real crowd-pleaser with a simple but honest narrative.
