They could have likely nabbed the Broadway before GATSBY (which likely won't be playing there any longer than HLL did). That said, I agree that Circle In the Square might have been a better idea in terms of keeping it intimate and perhaps less costly, but that would also be less tickets sold/recouped.
But I still won't call it bad producing. Yes, Broadway is a BUSINESS, but in any business there is risk and a chance of failure. If every producer only stuck with what they considered 'safe' properties to produce, based merely on commercial value or public demand, Broadway would be pretty damn dull. |
