My favorite Bob Merrill songs include ''Mira'' and ''Her Face'' from ''Carnival'' and ''Nine O'Clock'' and the title tune from ''Take Me Along.''

I've never seen ''Henry, Sweet Henry'' or heard the whole score, but I love this comic lyric from ''Pillar to Post,'' sung by Don Ameche:

''For a modern-day Don Juan and Lancelot, I don't seem to get out of my pants a lot.''

Nowadays, I imagine Merrill's best-known or most-performed lyrics are the ones he wrote to Jule Styne's terrific tunes to ''Funny Girl.''
