Can anyone type / share Ashman's notes in the published LITTLE SHOP script?

I remember seeing Howard Ashman's note at the opening of the LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS script when I took a look at Drama Book Shop one day -- and I remember remarking about how perfectly insightful it was about what was necessary to really make this material work.

Clearly Mr. Ashman could imagine future productions having all the problems that other posters have noted!

As Chromolume rightly observes, the comedy needs to come from the absurdity of the situations and scenario; if the performances heighten it too much, it all turns into messy pulp.

But as someone who thinks Howard Ashman was an actual genius, I'd love to read what he wrote!
