I was thinking that Kate Baldwin was very close to original star Nanette Fabray's type when Baldwin was cast before the pandemic to do the role. Especially since Fabray had done in addition to Broadway, lots of tv and the film the "Bandwagon", and there was more of a public persona to her that I thought (and perhaps those casting Encores) thought to cast it in that vein -- also, Fabray won the Tony for Best Actress that year, and there's no OCR, just a few numbers on the "Ed Sullivan Show" because of a strike that year. So she might have a reasonably similar impact to the original production. I think she could still pull it off. There's less visual evidence I think of Ray Middleton, so Brian Stokes Mitchell, as the male lead with a fine voice and a well-documented resume as Broadway musical star seemed to fit the bill, even if he is significantly older than Baldwin.

[SLIGHT SPOILER: Are they up the the show's demands of having to literally walk a tight-rope? I guess that could probably be safely done as some kind of illusion or not too far off the ground.]
