On the last point, film captures moved to London OR on tour like Newsies. Several that are filmed in NY are for Great Performances which means they aren’t available long term. I assume but could be wrong that Sara Bareilles had to fund the lions share of the Waitress capture. Having said that, it feels at least two to three productions per season are eventually adapted into some kind of filmed version, whether it’s a movie or a staged production. Wish it were more but at least it’s something.

On the original point re Cabaret operating costs.I would imagine they get more affordable talent and probably reduce the number of preshow performers by this time next year. Also, I could be wrong but it feels like they’ve started raising the premium seats prices to mid 700s (x2).

This is ultimately how many of these current shows are hoping to fund themselves these days. Premium seats are a major part of the current business model. And yet when they don’t sell, they end up on TKTS and shows don’t break even.
