I have a similar story. When I first started seeing Broadway shows, it was such a rare event that I bought a magnet for every show, even before it started, and I stuck the ticket under the magnet. Eventually, I started going a LOT, but I still bought a magnet for every show. Then one day, I realized that I literally had over a hundred magnets on my refrigerator, extending onto the side of the fridge. Many were from shows that I didn't think were all that great, and some I barely remembered. I also realized I had spent probably close to $1000 on those magnets. I pick magnets up sometimes from the Flea Market, but I rarely buy them at the theater now. I like getting T-shirts, but I usually get them at the Flea Market as well. I went through a period where I got windowcards if I really liked the show and got the cast to sign them at the stage door, but I only had four frames because I didn't them to take over my place. Nowadays, so many actors don't come out the stage door that it would be very hard to get a full-cast signed windowcard for many shows. I think the last show I did that for was The Inheritance, although Lois Smith understandably did not come out the stage door. |
