I know that the novel, the play, the non-musical film, and the musical are all different in various regards in terms of plot points. But in the musical at least, the only times the Spider Woman and Molina interact are when he is in an "altered state" of sorts - the first is when he is given morphine in the prison hospital, the second is at the moment of his death after the gunshot (played out as a "dance of death" tango ending in her kiss). So yes, the lines of reality and imagination are deliberately blurred. |
