My response was very much like yours. I saw the Wednesday matinee in New York, front row center. Of course, she had won me over from her entrance. But when she went into "Rose's Turn" I swear my mouth hit the floor. It was frightening -- like watching someone have a nervous breakdown. She was, indeed, the "gold standard." (I do disagree, somewhat, though, about the summer tour. At least when I saw it, I thought she came close to making it.
But back to my original question: how well did this production do at the box office, especially in New York? |
