As Lanky points out, Merrick thought Bailey would be the last NY DOLLY - but then he got Memrna to finally play the role - for longer than she agreed as it turns out - with Diller as a filler between Bailey & MErman. There is audio available of Mermans final performance - doing the two songs written for her that Channing couldn't sing. I was hoping that the Midler/Peters revival would have used them as they work a treat.
