Utterly heartbreaking news. Alan was a true titan
He was the best-kept secret of NYC theatre for the last 40 years. Alan's mentorship had a monumental influence on many of our finest actors, from Viola Davis to Phillip Seymour Hoffman to Michelle Monaghan to countless amazing talents that we see onstage around town. I studied with him for many years..... he was, without question, the most brilliant acting instructor since Strasberg. Never again will we see another teacher who could singlehandedly take a bunch of wannabe-actor-kids and turn them into ARTISTS. Who can young performers go to now that Alan is gone???? |
