| I think it's pretty interesting that there are two couples where both actors have played Evan Hansen: Ben Platt & Noah Galvin and Taylor Trensch & Ben Levi Ross. Husband-and-wife teams were a staple of 20th century British and American theatre: Lunt & Fontanne, Cronyn & Tandy, Davis & Dee. Betty White & Allen Ludden did a lot of summer stock tours. Robert Goulet & Carol Lawrence did some shows, at least one I DO! I DO!. Celeste Holm & Wesley Addy were often paired in shows as were Laurence Olivier and both Vivian Leigh and Joan Plowright, Michael Redgrave & Rachel Kempson, Timothy West & Prunella Scales, Judi Dench & Michael Williams, Maggie Smith & Robert Stephens, Emma Thompson & Kenneth Branagh (too briefly).... Richard Burton & Elizabeth Taylor weren't really theatre people but they did do that dodgy PRIVATE LIVES and the Oxford run of DR. FAUSTUS. Oh: Mimi Hines & Phil Ford were frequently paired in shows, even after they'd split up, I think. |
