Agreed on both points. I also wonder about "Bobbie ought to have a fella" as a substitution for the original "woman." I would have preferred "husband" which in this case would have made the point a little better. (Even in the original, the word "woman" to me feels like a more mature expression, as if they're making the point of being with a grownup woman instead of just a dalliance with a "girl.") And yes, the number should have stayed with the women. |
