| I listened to the score on YouTube first and was very intrigued, but the jagged melodies were definitely challenging to sink into immediately. ("As the Water Loves the Stone" did catch me on first listen.) But when I saw the show in the theater a few weeks later, it had a completely different effect and I've been listening to it non-stop since. I think if you're willing to put in some time and let the work open itself to you, it's a deeply rewarding score and the performances of the two leads translate beautifully to the recording. Another yes vote! |
