As I posted a few days ago, I've SEEN the various Sondheim revues, including ''Marry Me a Little,'' ''Side by Side by Sondheim'' and ''Sondheim on Sondbeim.'' Also, ''Putting It Together'' (on Broadway and at MTC). And I hope to see ''Old Friends'' on Broadway and later his week, ''Being Alive.'' I can't say I'm jumping out of my seat to see the standard Sondheim tunes recycled, like ''Send in the Clowns,'' unless they've found a new context. But I'm curious to see how ''Being Alive'' will use lesser-known songs from ''Saturday Night'' & ''Pacific Overtures,'' and which ones. (And ''Road Show.'') |
