I mean, the real reason, of course, is that these three characters are being imagined by Bobby/Bobbie. And, originally, Bobby was a 35 year old in 1970, which means that he was born in 1935. The Andrews Sisters would have been part of the soundtrack of his life growing up. So when he imagines these three women coming together, the Andrews Sisters are a natural point of reference for an imagined musical number.
It does make less sense in a COMPANY not set in 1970 and with those characters gender-switched to be male. But, other than doing a whole-scale rewrite of the number, I think we're stuck with the style. |
