I saw the production this weekend and thought it was a lot of fun. Borle and Krysta Rodriguez were great together, and the choreography for Rosie seemed to reference Sweet Charity (and probably some other Chita dances). From where I was sitting, Ashlyn Maddox had a strong resemblance to Ann-Margaret. Miguel Gil was very good as Hugo and Victor de Paula Rocha was funny as Harvey. I wasn't bothered by the Little Richard references....but Conrad has been drafted, and Sykes is a little past draft age. Similarly, Richard Kind is a little old to be the father of teenagers (second/third marriage kids), but really sold Ed Sullivan. And Caroline Aaron was very funny as Mrs. Peterson. |
