I saw Stritch in London. The role was a perfect fit in many ways, but the production around her was merely serviceable. The supporting company wasn't bad, but it lacked the verisimilitude of NYC. I was in my 20s, yet still remember one Stritch line reading. "I didn't know he was Japanese" to Toby. If you know the play you know the moment might've had Stritch in mind as much as Stapleton.
