I’ll add this tidbit - the only Broadway musical that I can think of that was adapted into a novel is “Dear Evan Hansen” - it was adapted into a YA novel after the success on Broadway.
There are also YA novels based on 13 and The Prom, as well as novelizations of the films of West Side Story, Grease, and Dreamgirls--and perhaps others.
