Do you think they took Montevecchi (and others) into the studio to get better takes? The version on the album certainly sounds totally accurate to my ears. The other part I wondered about was Patinkin's final not ein Buddy's Blues. On the documentary the note is broken up as he travels from mic to mic along the stage. On the album it is smooth and sustained. Actually I already know this must have been done in studio because the applause at the end of the number isn't natural. It BURSTS in at the end, like someone threw a switch, rather than how applause would build.
