Titanic this afternoon.

Rapturous. The orchestra, choral work, and beautifully cast soloists were equally stellar. A superb concert re-imagining. As many have opined, it feels like old school Encores! in the best sense. It's just about perfection. When Zien and Kuhn make a late entrance, the place goes wild: we get musical theater royalty here, too.

I'd heard it sold poorly the second week, and anecdotal evidence only: I got my row L orchestra seats - normally $195 - for $49 on TDF only 4 days ago. I was beyond thrilled to score in just off center, particularly for the Saturday matinee, often a well-attended Encores! (I'm using last year's Piazza as a yardstick more than the past). Yet the remaining three performances have plenty of seats, the mezz startlingly undersold. Granted, expensive tickets, but this was an anticipated event. My TKTS app indicates no sales at the booth - has anyone here purchased Encores seats there recently? There were unsold seats today (though it was by any yardstick a full house downstairs.)

I saw quite a bit of this past season, and would rank this Titanic at the very top. If you've ever loved the score, trust all of us: you'll never hear it like this again. Two performances are a last chance; as of 6:30, plenty of seats online.
