Though her name was missing on the passings on THE TONY AWards Sheila Smith passed in November 2023 and had played the role of Meridith in FOLLIES and was standby for the role of Phyllis, Carlotta and Solange. She was the original Sweet Sweet Sue in SUGAR and played and covered many roles in MAME. She also starred in TAKING MY TURN and appeared in many other shows. We also lost Arthur Rubin who sang "Beautiful Girls" in the concert version of FOLLIES at Lincoln Center.
The only performer still living from the Originals is Graciela Daniele and Kurt Peterson. There may be chorus and ensemble still living. How beautiful it was for Kurt to give a shout-out to his buddy Harvey Evans who we lost a few years back who was also in the original production. |
