AN ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE's final performance -- Loved it!

I thought I was going to miss this one due to the scarcity of tickets for its final week and the premium prices that were making Merrily look affordable. So, I'm glad I took a chance at the box office early this afternoon -- a few of us in line scored non-premium last minute cancelation tickets and/or house tickets that got released.

This was my first exposure to the play. In fact, A Doll's House is the only Ibsen play I've seen. I know it's such a cliche to say a dramatic or literary work is "surprisingly ahead of its time" or "even more relevant today..", but it's hard to argue that isn't very true of this work. The parallels to present day -- from the co-opting of populism by corporate interest to the class and wealth divide to the destruction and pollution of natural resources.

For those with more familiarity and history with the work, any insights/opinions on Amy Herzog's adaptation? Does it differ much from prior English-language adaptations? I must say, a couple of times, I was struck by what sounded like somewhat anachronistic modern-sounding dialogue. Like, when one character told another to "take a load off", but perhaps that's a phrase with much older origins than I imagine. That minor quibble aside, I was absolutely gripped by the production. A very fine cast, too. I think Jeremy Strong's Tony was well earned.
