I don't if it was shortened for time on the recording, or what actually occured live, but the Act 2 opener with Gussie is shorter on the Liecester Haymanrket Recording. And I prefer that. She sings the set up but then barely does any of "Good Thing Going" and it fades out. One of the few things I disliked in this revival (which I generally loved) is that they allowed her to finish the song in this segment and give away the ending (Going, Going, Gone) which for those who do not know it's coming can be a suprising, clever, poignant moment when we hear Charile sing it for (what I think should be) the first time later in act two. |
