I would've awarded it to him on his original -- and unbelievably charming -- acting choices on "Suddenly, Seymour" alone. The fact that he had that kind of grounded, gorgeous baritone within him for "Make Them Hear You" -- delivered with the seeming lived history of a 40 year old -- was legitimately stunning.
He's a Broadway star if he wants to be. Not just as a classic leading man but also as a very funny, terrifically heartfelt character actor.
It's very clear that he's incredibly bright, and I imagine there are countless better-paying jobs he could choose instead if he wanted.
