It is odd. The vocal selections version of the song, VERY different than the show version (different lyrics as well as a different layout and accompaniment), does slightly hint at something bossa nova-ish, though barely. Though it would be possible to do it in that style. But yeah, very hard to imagine that in the show itself.
As far as intermissions go, I did do a production of La Mancha once as a one-act. (We did cut the Moor sequence, so it wasn't quite as long as it could have been.) It worked really well. |
