But to be clear, people LOVED the new arrangements for Fish's Oklahoma and thought the cast did amazing work with it. Not everyone did, sure. But there's a reason is was a raved about must-see off broadway, and transferred on Broadway and won Best Musical... and toured.

The fact that the score of Cats is done as the score of Cats, and it's put into a new context without changing the score, is a bit different than what happened with Oklahoma, so that sounds heartening and thrilling. But let's not forget that most people of the modern day have a distaste for the Oklahoma score which is seen as stuffy and boring and a new take on it, a new arrangement and sound, was very welcome to many people. And let's not forget the score to Cats is mocked and dismissed by a great many people who would surely have loved to know it was getting a new fresh arrangement for this (though it is apparently not).
