Linked below is a rehearsal photo from 1969's one-performance Broadway megaflop, "La Strada." Apparently, Donna Theodore aimed for Broadway six years prior to her "Shenandoah" debut, and was cast as the secondary female lead in the Lionel Bart/Elliot Lawrence show, based on the famed Fellini movie. If you scroll down, you can click on other photos from the same production (including Bernadette Peters and Larry Kert). Out-of-town, in Detroit, at the Fisher Theatre, Ms. Theodore was replaced by "It's a Bird! It's a Plane! It's Superman"'s and "Wish You Were Here"'s Patricia Marand...before the role's being eventually eliminated for good. Although it must have been crushing, it turned out, eventually, to be a blessing.
