There was a significant amount of cut material in the second act as well - the mini-song Amour and the tarantella music, both part of the operetta sequence, were completely gone, along with one of my favorite lines: "If only Guido had become a priest or a lawyer, but no, he makes these films I can't explain to my friends!"
I wonder if the documentary music is cut now because it feels a little racist in 2024. When I saw a college production at MSM earlier this year, they had replaced "a documentary" with "a romance" featuring MGM-style choral oohs. |
