The Lortel is also not using volunteer ushers for this production, which they generally do, even for OH, MARY, which was also a big hit.
The only reason I can figure for purposely not using free labor is that they either do not expect to have a handful of unsold seats to use for volunteers or that they have decided that they specifically do not want to hold back a handful of seats and lose almost $2000 of revenue at each performance.
It's interesting that the Lortel was chosen as the venue for this production...even if the producers wanted to stay off-Broadway with it, there are certainly bigger off-Broadway venues they could have utilized. |
