I saw the 1963 film version of The Threepenny Opera at my local movie theater when I was about 14 years old. I loved Sammy Davis Jr.'s rendition of "Mack the Knife" more than any other I had heard before including that of Bobby Darin on The Ed Sullivan Show.

I wanted to get a recording of the songs so my mom took me to the nearby Polk Bros. store, which sold LP soundtracks and Broadway Cast recordings. They offered both the '63 film soundtrack and the '54 off-Broadway Cast Album. I was more into Broadway recordings over movie soundtracks at the time so I opted for the '54 recording.

Nevertheless, Sammy Davis' version is still my favorite performance of the song on video. The '63 film is available on Blu-Ray through Ebay as an import, although you would probably need an all-region Blu-Ray player to view it.
