The San Diego Symphony performs a series of outdoor concerts at a venue called The Rady Shell, which is akin to the Hollywood Bowl, only with better acoustics. This past Friday’s concert was titled “Sondheim Tonight! A Celebration of Genius,” and it featured an all-star company: Rob Fisher, music director and conductor, as well as vocalists Santino Fontana, Amy Owens, Emily Skinner, Tony Yazbeck, a group of musical comedy students and alumni from San Diego State University, and Len Cariou, who was billed as “Special Guest Vocalist.” Here is the program:
“Sweeney Todd Suite,”
“Buddy’s Blues” (Follies)
“What More Do I Need?” (Saturday Night)
“The Right Girl” (Follies)
“Broadway Baby” (Follies)
“Our Time” (Merrily We Roll Along)
