The context here is COVID, the protocols, an industry that fought valiantly, even heroically, to re-open and keep both artists and audiences safe and well. Yup. I guess it shouldn't surprise me that people seem to have forgotten that we had around a year and a half where assembling to see live theatre could not happen. Followed by a period of time where live theatre resumed but with many shows still needing to cancel performances, and a lot of people not ready to be part of a live audience again. And a long period of time where you had to have your vaccine card to get in, and had to have a mask, etc. We're through all that protocol now, but Covid is still here. And I still know people who prefer to wear medical masks when they see a show, and theatre professionals who work masked at times as well. And yes, people still get sick. I'm not sure why that should be questioned. |
