I gather the "a few years ago" means you believe she's too old. Little Shop is a fable-esque piece of sci-fi, its characters have stretched in many ways, including reshaping plain, culturally invisible Seymour into a handsome Clark Kent with glasses (Groff, Criss et al). People like the mutability of its broadly drawn people. Audrey is a throwaway woman, abused, forced to settle for anyone who pops up. I believe when Scott gets to "Suddenly Seymour," it will take on a poignant new feeling of rebirth. Why wouldn't this love story have even higher stakes with an Audrey in her prime? It's made me want to see it.
