Sunset Boulevard is at the St. James. I saw it at the Savoy in London. I was pretty far up in the second level of the theater, and that was fine. Lloyd uses large screen projections a great deal in this production, so being close is not much of an issue. I would guess being too far to the sides would be more of an issue, especially at the St. James where the extreme sides obscure significant parts of the stage. (That said, almost all the live action takes place dead center.) I’m seeing it again at the St. James and I’m sitting towards the back of the front mezz, which I expect will be perfect. (They’re the same seats I recently saw Spamalot from.) The first few rows of the rear mezz would also work well, though as I recall, the rear mezz is pretty steep there, and mid-rear mezz seems (to me, at least) very far from the stage. Hope this is helpful. |
