Apparently, Battles and Bernstein were lovers for a time in the 40's.
Reardon, of course, had a working relationship with Comden and Green, when they did the book and lyrics of Do, Re, Mi. He also worked with Bernstein, who conducted for the opera Introductions and Goodbyes. So I guess it was not too surprising that he played Gabey on the 1960 recording. He is miscast, but I do enjoy listening to his vocals.
