I am like Dramedy, I liked but not loved Operation Mincemeat. I thought it was way too long for what it was but the cast was pretty great. The letter song in Act I is perfection, beautiful writing and perfect interpretation. I saw the three parts of "Death of England" and they are interesting, intense but I would not recommend them unless you are very familiar with UK politics. I also enjoyed "Waiting for Godot" with Wishaw but it is one of my favorite plays so.... I did not care for Shifters at all. I thought the concept has been done before and much better. "The Real Thing" was good. Some of the casting choices were a little bit odd in terms of age, and there was some cute business with the stagehands dancing in between scenes that quickly lost its charm for me. However, the play still works very well after all these years. And, unfortunately, I very much disliked "A Face in the Crowd." It just did not work at all for me. After Ramin sings the title song 20 mn. (a great song and a great performance), the score, the story and the production go nowhere fast. Another case that we have seen it done before and better. I think I saw something else but I forget.... |
