I think that she, Donna McKechnie and Priscilla Lopez worked the most out of that cast as performers after ACL in bigger kinds of venues and shows in prominent roles. McKechnie only once I believe had name above the title billling alongside the just-departed Kathryn Crosby and others in "State Fair" on Broadway though, so while she did a lot of things regionally ("Sweet Charity" and the Paper Mill "Follies)" and even nowadays is Madame Morrible in "Wicked", previously understudying Chita Rivera in "The Visit", it is "A Chorus Line" that is the show most associated with her (Ok, "Promises, Promises" with its "Turkey Lurkey Time", too). Lopez followed up and won a Tony for "Hollywood/Ukraine", did tv and lots of theater, and Bishop came back to Broadway a number of times, did films like "Dirty Dancing" and became more well-known via "Gilmore Girls". Among men, Wayne Cilento shifted over to choreography doing some Broadway shows and elsehwere. There was a NY Times article years ago that inquired about who had become very notable after "A Chorus Line" gave them prominence. Apologies if I can't recall off-hand some other notable credits post-ACL from the cast. A lot of them had fabulous careers in the ensembles of shows on Broadway and elsewhere. Met Don Percassi (original Al from the "Sing" number) at an audition -- great, friendly and very chatty guy, hung out with him to talk for a while afterwards, getting great info on some of the stars and shows he performed in. He especially loved working with Robert Preston (in "Mack and Mabel") and Ethel Merman, and said (I'm paraphrasing) that Jerome Robbins (on a production of "West Side Story") could be as difficult with people as they say, but fortunately, he never turned on him. |
