Garth Brooks did this on his most recent world tour, where he sold every seat at the same price of around $70 - $95, even though he was playing arenas and even stadiums. But there are very few artists who can do that, and he was able to do that because the price was low enough that it seemed reasonable even for the worst seat.
It would be trickier for the economics to allow a show like Operation Mincemeat to sell a Broadway theater that way, because the worst seats are often very undesirable and would not be worth the price that the tickets would need to be in order for the show to recoup, especially since there is no guarantee that the show would sell out (which would basically need to happen for it to work economically). And using TKTS would be a bit complicated. But at the same time, it used to be that the entire orchestra was one price, and a model where the orchestra was all one price, the mezz was all one price, and the rear mezz/balcony was all one price would be possible, I think. |
