Rannells screwed himself in the end. He put a lot into the show in terms of being part of its development, doing the London run, the re-development post-London and pre-publicity for Broadway.
I think the fact that the producers issued no formal statement acknowledging his departure and announced his replacement within 2 weeks tells us all we need to know here.
He was excellent in the role but he was not irreplacable. |
